Special Security Services personnel assisted in a search and rescue operation in Hardy County after a small aircraft crashed during a storm. The operation lasted for four days and officers assisted and participated in the search and rescue. A retired Natural Resources Police Officer was made a team leader and utilized one of our large four wheel drive SUV’s to haul his search and rescue team into rugged terrain where foot searches were organized and conducted. Sadly, the passengers and pilot of the plane did not survive the crash. The Mobile Command Center was brought and offered for use in the operation.
